Veeam and Sophos Announce Strategetic Partnership

Veeam Software, a data protection and ransomware recovery solutions provider, this week announced a strategic partnership with Sophos, a global leader in cybersecurity as a service. Through the partnership, Veeam Data Platform will integrate with Sophos Managed Detection and Response (MDR), adding a critical layer of “human-led” threat detection and response to advance the security of business-critical backups against ransomware attackers.

FBI Charges 6 for Allegedly Running $30M Money Transmitting Business Using Crypto

The FBI has charged six people for allegedly operating an illegal $30 million money-transmitting business using cryptocurrencies, according to court documents filed Wednesday in the Southern District of New York. The details, disclosed in the unsealed affidavit of an FBI agent seeking the individuals’ arrest, reveal that between July 2021 and September 2023 they conducted the illegal business by using the darknet to convert bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies into cash.

At-Bay Launches New Managed Detection and Response (MDR) Cybersecurity Solution for SMBs

At-Bay, an insurance security solutions provider, announced the launch of At-Bay Stance Managed Detection and Response (At-Bay Stance MDR)– a new MDR solution designed to help emerging and mid-sized businesses “advance their security defenses and threat preparedness in light of rising cyber crime rates.” At-Bay’s MDR offering combines technology with human analysis to detect and respond to cyber threats before they escalate. Alongside the rest of At-Bay’s Stance portfolio, At-Bay’s newest security solution extends its capabilities to include managed endpoint protection.

Cyber Security and Insurance Platform Upfort Raises $8 Million in Series A Funding

Upfort, a cyber security and insurance platform, this week announced it has raised $8 million in a Series A funding round led by SYN Ventures, with participation of Eniac Ventures and Fika Ventures, which co-led Upfort’s seed round. This investment advances Upfort’s goal to “simplify the way brokers and insurers sell insurance and shield their clients from cyber threats.”

1Password Becomes Latest Victim of Okta Customer Service Breach

Password manager 1Password has become the second publicized victim of Okta’s recent customer support breach, news of which came to light last week. It is just the latest in a string of cyberattacks aimed at gaining access to highly privileged Okta accounts. Okta, a cloud-based, enterprise-grade identity and access management (IAM) service that connects enterprise users across applications and devices, is used by more than 17,000 customers globally. On Friday, it disclosed that a threat actor had used stolen credentials to access its customer support case management system. The attacker then leveraged its access to penetrate some of those thousands of customers via their recent customer support engagements.
